In April this year Travis Perkins Group formed a strategic alliance
with Toriga Energy to deliver a comprehensive Green Deal proposition for
consumers and the trade.
The alliance enables the two companies
to provide an integrated Green Deal proposition from specification
through to finance, assessment and installation – in effect an
end-to-end Green Deal solution.
Toriga Energy has been appointed
as one of the first of the Coalition Government’s Green Deal Providers,
part of a Pioneer Group of 22, capable of offering energy efficiency
packages when the scheme launches later this year.
Under the terms
of the strategic alliance Travis Perkins will provide in-branch
consumer and trade marketing within its Wickes branches and trade
marketing in Travis Perkins merchant branches. Technical support, Green
Deal accreditation and training provision for assessors and installers
will be offered by Sustainable Building Solutions, a specialist division
of Travis Perkins Group. Supply and distribution of measures will be
provided by Travis Perkins Group companies.
Toriga Energy will
provide finance provision, systems development and integration. In
addition, Toriga will provide recruitment and management of assessors
and installers, along with Toriga software and systems training for both
assessors and installers.
Paul Joyner, Director of Sustainable
Building Solutions commented: “This strategic alliance offers a unique
Green Deal proposition for consumers and the trade. The combination of
Travis Perkins Group’s ability to deliver technical expertise, product
and a logistics solution, alongside Toriga’s ability to provide finance
and assessment can deliver a market leading proposition within the
emerging Green Deal market.”
Gary Bell, Director at Toriga Energy,
commented: “This strategic alliance builds on our commitment of
delivering a high quality and professional experience across all
elements of the Green Deal supply chain. We are delighted to be working
with The Travis Perkins Group and together provide an industry leading
proposition to the consumer who can look forward to living in a more
comfortable and energy efficient home.”
Simon King, Managing
Director of Wickes, said: “The Green Deal provides a tremendous
opportunity to refurbish the UK’s energy inefficient housing stock.
Wickes will be delighted to work with Toriga to bring this opportunity
to our many trade customers and consumers.”
Ball Contractors signed up with the strategic alliance in August this year.
Matthew
Ball, Managing Director of Ball Contractors: “The strategic alliance we
have entered into with TP and Toriga is extremely exciting, this is
what everyone needs to stimulate the construction industry and what we
need continue to develop our knowledge and skills with our own business
development.”
The TSB launched an initiative to Retrofit UK social housing stock in order to meet future targets in reduction of CO2 emissions and energy use. The competition 'Retrofit for the future’, looked for at least 50 demonstrator whole house solutions to improve the performance of the entire property with a goal to make deep cuts in carbon emissions. B Ball Contractors Ltd worked with CEN and Ashford Borough Council in winning the competition and to a successful conclusion.

Hundreds of pounds up for grabs with £125m Green Deal cash back offer
Press notice: 12/127
19 October 2012
The Green Deal is the Government’s new initiative to transform the UK market for energy efficiency. It will let homes and businesses pay for energy efficiency improvements, like insulation, through expected savings on their energy bills. Households quick off the mark could get as much as £1,000 cash back.
From 28th January 2013, households who use the Green Deal to make improvements such as loft insulation, solid wall insulation and replacement windows will qualify. The Green Deal Cashback Scheme is a first-come, first-served offer, and the more work households have done, the more cash back they could receive.
Energy Secretary Edward Davey said:
“The Green Deal will provide unprecedented choice for consumers wanting to improve their homes and make them more energy efficient. This cash back offer will help get the Green Deal off to a flying start. It really is a great offer – the more work households have done, the more energy they stand to save and the more cash they receive.
“The Green Deal also presents a great opportunity for businesses of all sizes to take advantage of this transforming market – and now is a critical time. Whatever your business does in this sector, the Green Deal will have an impact. So I say to businesses large and small – gear up, get training and get ready to take advantage of the Green Deal.”
The simple, time-bound offer is limited to one per household, but can cover a package of improvements so long as the householder is contributing to installation costs and work done is overseen by an authorised Green Deal Provider. The key to getting the cash back is to have a Green Deal assessment carried out on your property, then install some or all of the improvements recommended.
A total of £125 million is up for grabs so hundreds of thousands of people could qualify. The rates published today are guaranteed for the first £40 million of the scheme. The best offers are available first, so people should act fast once the scheme opens in January because cash back rates may reduce after that.
Community minded households will have the option of donating some or all of their cash back to registered charities and Community Interest Companies who have signed up with the scheme administrator.
The cash back offer also applies to private or social landlords who can benefit if they are the property improver and are paying the costs themselves.
The Green Deal Cashback Scheme will benefit authorised installers and assessors who can use it to attract customers where they are working with a Green Deal Provider. They can find out more about the Green Deal on the Green Deal Oversight & Registration Body website [External link] or through one of the certification bodies.
From 28th January 2013, Green Deal Providers will be able to offer Green Deal plans to consumers and begin delivering energy efficiency and heating measures to households across Great Britain.
Ball Contractors - Green Deal Installer Accreditation
Ball Contractors are pleased to announce that they are
undertaking their Green Deal accreditation with the NICEIC and BBA.
The decision was taken to go with 2 Companies, as Ball
Contractors were struggling to find one accreditation body that could offer all
the measures that we want to offer our customers.

Power Giants on the rise again!
British Gas announced today that electricity and gas prices would be
increasing by 6% for their customers. Npower followed suit with a 8.8%
hike for gas and 9.1% for electricity. Scottish Power has just increased
their prices by 7%. The winter announcements strike again…
The price rises will put at least an additional £109 on the average bill which will now take the average dual-bill to a record £1,309 in Britain. The price increase comes at a time when there are already 6 million households in fuel poverty across the UK, spending more than 10% of their income paying their energy bills.
So how can you save whilst energy prices continue to rise twice a year on average? Installing a Solar PV system with Ballcontractors can help you go solar.
Now thousands of homes are enjoying solar savings of £200 or more on average per year. Lee from Manchester has been keeping us posted on his latest bills – We were really shocked to get the latest letter from about our direct debit from our energy company. Before our installation our direct debit was £94 per month and now it’s something we smile about at only £29 per month – a serious 71% savings. Truly incredible and it’s a great feeling not being at the whim of power giants these days, says Lee.
Solar is the best option to help protect your home and also improve the attractiveness of the property to new buyers. Besides giving your home the ability to wipe out the most recent rises, according to an ING Direct survey, solar panels have been named the most desirable property extra.

Legal framework for Green Deal signals green light for industry
02 October 2012
The legal framework for the
Green Deal is in place. This regulatory green light signals to industry
that the market can now get started.
In practice it means that Green Deal providers, assessors and installers can start to become authorised, and display the Green Deal Quality Mark, and put in place their systems for delivering assessments to consumers – although consumers won’t be able to sign up to a Green Deal finance plan until 28th January 2013.
The Green Deal will remove the biggest barriers to demand for energy efficiency solutions, opening up the market for more participants and giving people more choice.
From late January, Green Deal Providers will be able to offer Green Deal plans to consumers and begin delivering energy efficiency and heating measures and go on to meet the Government’s ambitions for a major programme of national energy efficiency retrofit.
The Green Deal will empower consumers by giving them new ways of funding home improvements, and empower businesses by enabling them to compete for energy efficiency opportunities in new and innovative ways. It will boost the low carbon economy by supporting up to 60,000 jobs in the insulation sector alone by 2015, up from around 26,000 today.
The Green Deal could see British homes and businesses save enough energy to power 1 million homes in 2020.
Businesses wanting to find out about the Green Deal for the first time can find out more on the Green Deal Industry pages or contact the Green Deal Oversight & Registration Body.
Consumers wanting general energy efficiency advice, including information about the Green Deal, should call the ESAS helpline on 0300 123 1234.
